A former Roman Catholic priest has settled a lawsuit alleging that he later sexually abused a 14-year-old student student in New York and Boston, the former student’s attorney said Wednesday, as reported by the Times-Picayune and

Sean Leo Rooney served on the faculty at Archbishop Shaw High School from 1975 until 1979.

The lawyer, Mitchell Garabedian of Boston, said the former student disclosed Rooney’s abuse in August 2012. The acts occurred in Boston and New York. Rooney was a teacher at Goshen Junior Seminary in New York from 1979 through 1981, where he befriended the boy and encouraged the youth’s interest in photography, Garabedian said.

A sex offender from Boston with a lengthy criminal record is set to appear in court on new charges accusing him of raping a relative’s 10-year-old daughter while taking her to a summer youth program.

Forty-nine-year-old Erroll Foreman, of Dorchester, was to be arraigned Tuesday in Dorchester District Court on charges including child rape and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. A judge has revoked his bail.

A report by Boston police says Foreman picked up the girl at her home Thursday morning to drive her to the youth program and raped her on the way. The girl told authorities that Foreman assaulted her and threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone.

A Level 3 sex offender was arrested Thursday night after police say he tried to lure a 15-year-old Winthrop boy into a sexual relationship.

Thomas Vincent Rose, 62, of Malden was arrested by Winthrop Police and charged with enticement of a child. According to Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley’s office, the victim told an adult about Rose’s advances. During a police interview, the victim said Rose offered marijuana and alcohol before making his proposition for sex.

As reported by, Rose was held on $50,000 bail and is expected in court again on August 8. If he can make bail, he will have to wear a GPS device.

A registered sex offender from Lowell is facing charges for allegedly raping a girl over several years, starting when she was 6.

Philip St. Hilaire was held on $100,000 bail after pleading not guilty to statutory rape of a child and indecent assault and battery of a child.

Prosecutors say the girl, now 13, disclosed the alleged abuse to a counselor this month.

Umar Shabazz, 54, now faces charges of failing to register as a Level 3 sex offender, refusing to provide a DNA database sample, and possession of a Class B narcotic with intent to distribute, State Police said in a statement.

Ronald Beausoleil, 33, of Haverhill, Mass., is facing charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault, two counts of felonious sexual assault and accomplice to theft by unauthorized taking in connection with the March 10 incident.

Beausoleil, who is being held at the Rockingham County jail, will be arraigned on the charges later this month in superior court.

A Level 3 sex offender from Massachusetts has been arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a minor in a New Hampshire Walmart this weekend, Plaistow (NH) police said. reports that Ronald R. Beausoleil of Haverhill was arrested Monday night after Plaistow police patrolling the parking lot outside the store where the reported assault took place Sunday, observed a car matching a description of the suspect’s car, Plaistow police said in a statement. After officers discovered Beausoleil in his car, he was identified as the suspect and arrested.

In Massachusetts, Beausoleil has two prior criminal offenses. He was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child younger than 14 years old in June 1999 and attempted open and gross lewdness in April of 2007, according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board.

NEW BEDFORD Police have arrested a registered Level 3 sex offender after reportedly stumbling upon an attempted rape.

William H. Fuller, 51, who is homeless, was charged with kidnapping, assault to murder and assault to rape. He will appear for a dangerousness hearing in New Bedford District Court.

Fuller, who has a 1998 conviction for indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, is classified as a Level 3 sex offender, considered the most dangerous and likely to reoffend, according to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry.

An eastern Kanawha County (West Virginia) man who allegedly used his interest in vampires to meet underage girls has pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual abuse, as reported by the Associated Press.

Bryan Confere, 21, of Diamond pleaded Thursday to a single count of first-degree sexual abuse as the result of a plea agreement.

Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Meadows said the incident actually occurred in 2006 when Confere, who was 17 at the time, assaulted a 10-year-old girl while in the Belle area. He initially was charged as a minor but the case was transferred to adult status in 2007. Confere was indicted on the charge in April 2009.

The Massachusetts State Police (MSP) report a fourth member of the MSP Ten Most Wanted Sex Offender List was captured Feb. 9 after state troopers directed Florida police to the suspect’s location, according to the Westborough patch website.

Officers from Florida’s Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert H. Griggs, Jr., 51, at the Green Wave Motel on Palm Beach Boulevard in Fort Myers. Sheriff’s deputies were directed to the location after Trooper Steve McDonald of the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section developed information that Griggs may be staying at a motel on or near Palm Beach Boulevard.

Griggs, who is classified as a high risk Level 3 offender by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, is wanted by the Fitchburg Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender as required by law. He was required to register because of a 1994 conviction in Massachusetts for open and gross misconduct and lewd and lascivious behavior and a 1995 conviction in Texas for aggravated sexual assault on a child.
